C_1 chemistry and technology progress made by foreign countries in 1991 in the fields of methane, methanol, synthesis gas, and carbon dioxide is described. Emphasis has been given on some new developments in technology, and innovations and improvements for some traditional technologies also mentioned. It can be seen from the literatures concerned that C_1 chemistry is brimming with youthful vigour,and steadily advancing forward.
