Trudging in the Thorns——On the Culture Personality of Chinese Modern Leftist Intellectuals

中国左翼知识分子基于对人类生存完满状态的向往而投身革命,但自我情感方式却与具体的革命实践之间产生了深刻裂隙。在革命理性的召唤下,经由思想改造运动,左翼知识者放弃了启蒙主义的思想立场,逐渐认同工农大众的价值取向,最终趋归特定意识形态的文化规范。这一思想嬗变过程,凸现了左翼知识分子的文化性格。

Chinese modern leftist intellectuals participated in the revolution for the simple reason that they longed for the perfect state of human existence.As a result there was a gap between their own emotion and the concrete revolutionary practice.Under the call of the revolutionary reason and through the reform movement of thoughts,they gave up the original stand of enlightenment and gradually accepted the workers and peasants values.With the final result that they conformed to the cultural standard of the same ideology.This process of the changing thoughts reflects the spiritual symptom of leftist intellectuals.
