摘要
红宝石、蓝色蓝宝石、浅色蓝宝石、黄色蓝宝石的常见多色性分别为紫红色 (No) -橙红色 (Ne)、蓝色 (No) -蓝绿色 (Ne)、浅蓝色 (No) -淡蓝色 (Ne)、黄色 (No) -浅黄色 (Ne)。刚玉族宝石多色性的形成机理主要是致色元素 Cr、Fe、Ti等在刚玉晶体结构中的平行 C轴方向和垂直 C轴方向的排列方式不同 ,从而导致在两方向的致色离子的离子间距不同及在等向长的晶体中两方向的致色离子数量不同 ,当入射光的振动方向平行或垂直 C轴时 ,晶体对其进行选择吸收和吸收强度不同 ,由此产生了以上多色性。
Pleochroism of rubies is purple red(No)-orange red(Ne).That of blue sapphires are blue(No)-blue green(Ne).Light blue sapphires show light blue(No)-very light blue(Ne).Yellow sapphires are yellow(No)-light yellow(Ne).Pleochroism of gem quality corundum is associated with different arrangements of colorific chemical element Cr,Fe,Ti…etc. parallel with or perpendicular to C axie within crystal of the corundum.Distance between colorific ions and quantity of colorific ions at the direction parallel with C axis are different from that perpendicular to C axie within crystal of the corundum.When the vibration direction of casted light is parallel with C axie the selective absorption and its strength is different from the case when the vibration is perpendicular to C axie,Hence pleochroism.
