With different forms and contents, four encyclopedias of overseas Chinese have been published in the different areas in the start of the new century. They reflect the academic characteristics of several scholars' regional groups in the world. The studies of the overseas Chinese will enter into a new stage, with the impetus of the waves brought by the publication of the encyclopedias.
