The Confucianist time-dependent mean doctrine (Shizhong)is the unification of the world outlook of the mean principle and its methodology. The former's true connotation lies in abiding by the mean in terms of times and in keeping abreast with progress of times. The Confucianist time-dependent mean view, therefore, embraces profound thoughts of dialectical materialism, contains a powerful enterprising spirit, and obviously embodies pure reasons. Consequently it is the genuine essence of Confucianism and that of the Chinese people, and is that by which the Chinese people are to revive today.
