Ultimate Concern of Economics: An Inspection of the Ethical Traditions of Western Economics

西方经济学具有深厚的伦理传统,自亚当·斯密以来,经济学家们把经济学的现实关怀与终极关怀相结合,从具体的伦理关系出发研究人的行为。西方经济学把利己与利他的关系作为其伦理传统的核心来研究经济问题。中国经济学的研究应借鉴西方经济学的伦理传统,根据市场化的演进不断拓宽视野,重视经济伦理的研究,对经济学研究方法进行积极的革新。在经济发展中,必须确立以人的全面发展为内容的经济伦理标准。

Western economics has a profound ethical tradition. Since Adam Smith, Western economists, combining realistic concern with ultimate concern, have continued studying man's behavior from the perspective of specific ethical relationships among men. Some of them have gone so far as to regard the relation between self benefitting and others benefitting as the core of ethical tradition on their economic studies. Chinese economic researchers should learn from the ethical tradition of Western economics, push back their horizon of economic studies as the market evolves and attach importance to studies of economic ethics to actively transform the methodology of economic study. After all, a set of standards for economic ethics with a complete development of man as the content should be established in China's economic development.
