余松烈是中国当代著名的作物栽培学家、农业教育家、小麦栽培科学的奠基人之一,中国工程院院士。作者通过对余松烈近60年科研、教学等研究,揭示了一位科学家学术思想、教育思想形成的过程,通过具体事例,阐明了这些思想与实践在推动中国农业科技革命、培养创新人才等方面所具有的历史意义和现实意义。

Yu Songlie,an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering,is the Chinese famours contemporary crop cultivator,agricultural educationist,and one of the founders of wheat cultivation sciences.By means of research on Yu's about sixty years of scientific research and teaching,the author brings to light the formation course of a scientist's academic and educational thinking.Alˉso,with concrete examples,the author expounds the historical and practical significance which such thinking and practice possess for pushing forward our country's revolution of agricultural science and technology and developing innovatory qualified personnel.
