《红字》中的""森林"意象,从四个方面反映了霍桑对人性本质的认同及他对人性解放的探索性的思考:1.森林是爱的方舟,生命的源泉;2.森林给主人公提供了展示原我的舞台;3.森林为主人公提供了反思和成长的空间;4.森林体现了一种乌托邦式的自由,因而这一意象具有多种艺术功用。
From four aspects the image of 'woods' in the WTScarlet Letter manifests Horthorne's understanding and exploring of the human nature. They are boiled down on 1) woods represents the fountain of life; 2)woods affords the stage to display the self; 3)woods offers the dimension to reflect; 4)woods embodies the freedom of Utopia.
