China's first manned spaceship, theShenzhou-5, blasted off from theJiuquan Satellite Launch Centerin the northwestern China atop a LM-2Flaunch vehicle at 9 am on October 15,2003. The Shenzhou-5 entered preset orbit10 minutes after the take-off. After orbitingthe Earth 14 times the return module of theShenzhou-5 with astronaut Yang Liwei safelyreturned to the Earth.
