This article introduces riser locating way for several kinds of plate castings. This kind of riser can fully use the solidification characteristic of the iron castings, i. e. through the expansion of the graphite in the late solidification period, the self - compensation can be performed. It is proved that this method can not only ensure the quality of the plate castings but also reduce the dimension of the risers, which decrease the consumption of the raw material and production cost.
