随着社会经济的发展,我国古代城市也经历了不同的发展阶段。作者在吸收前人研究成果的基础上,从城与市的关系角度,论述了中国古代城市的发展所经历的城与市分离的原始城、城与市简单结合的城市以及城与市完全融合的城市这样三个阶段。

With the development of productivity, the ancient Chinese cities emerged and went through three stages of development: castle,city where there were a few markets that were strictly controled,and city that had freedom of trade.
