民族中最具标志性的文化是民族服饰,它属于文化元素之一,同时它也会随着民族的发展而发展。契丹族属于北方的少数民族,长期处于游牧的生活,其民族服饰主要以小袖,左衽长袍长腿紧身裤,靴子为主,是契丹族特有的民族特色。伴随着农耕经济的出现,契丹族的服饰开始与汉族服饰相融合,甚至有大部分的契丹族身着汉服生活,而汉人身着契丹族服饰生活。
