上古时期就有"玉出昆冈"之载,中原人对于西部奇珍异宝充满文化想象,玉器被赋予了特殊的文化意义,西部美玉被不断向中原输送。在西玉东输的过程中,形成了中西文化的交流和碰撞。玉作为该跨文化传播活动的载体,其所承载的文化内涵随着传播、适应与变迁而不断丰富。

In the ancient times, there was a saying that 'jade comes out of the Kungang'.People in the central plains were full of cultural imagination for rare treasures in the west, jade articles were endowed with special cultural significance, and they were constantly transported from the west to the central plains. The communication and collision between Chinese and western cultures came into being in this process. As the carrier of this intercultural communication activity, the jade possesses cultural connotation which is enriched with the communication,adaptation and change.
