张保皋,新罗名将。早年在中国唐朝生活20余年,其活动区域多半集中在今山东半岛一带。曾出资修建赤山法华院,积极在山东半岛开展护法、弘法事业,促进了中、韩两国的文化交流。其出任新罗清海镇大使期间,掌控着新罗与唐朝、日本的海上贸易。张保皋海洋商业帝国的成功建构既得益于当时活跃在中国沿海、特别是山东半岛的众多新罗商人的支持,又与9世纪特殊的东亚国际关系相关。

Zhang Baogao,a famous general in ancient Silla,had lived and stayed in Tang Dynasty of China for more than 20 years and his diplomatic activities were mainly focused in Shandong peninsula.He sponsored to build Fahua Temple in Town of Chishan and worked hard at the task of promoting and protecting Buddhism in Shandong,making contribution to cultural exchange between China and Silla.He manipulated the maritime trade between Silla and China as well as the trade between Silla and Japan when he was appointed as the governor of County of Qinghai in Silla.His successful establishment of maritime business kingdom is partly due to the strong support from the great number of Silla’s businessmen all over the seaside cities in China,especially those around Shandong peninsula,and partly due to the special Eastern Asian relationship of nine century.
