The effect of β—adrenoceptor agonist on 138 nonpregnant,pregnant and postpartum rat uteri in vitro was observed.The adrenoceptor response in estrus appears to be more stronger than that in diestrus,but not statistically significant.However,in pregnant uterus it is definitely stronger than that in estrus,diestrus or postpartum.During pregnancy,the adrenoceptor response of early and of mid preguant uterus is significantly stronger than that of late pregnant uterus.The results obtained from 94 rats by radioligand binding technique are in accord with the β-adrenoceptor response elicited by isoprenaline.The content of β-adrenoceptors in proestrus and estrus (126.84±15.17 fmol/mg protein) is significantly higher than that in metestrus and diestrus (77.98±10.22 fmol/mg protein),while in early and in mid pregnancy the value (144.51±6.19 and 175.75±30.95fmol/mg protein respectively)is significantly higher than that in late pregnancy (60.16±11.92fmol/mg protein）。The KD in early and in mid pregnancy (1.44±0.24 and 1.95±0.61nmol/L respectively) is significantly lower than that in late pregnancy (4.11±0.62nmol/L）。These quantitative changes of β-adrenoceptors are suitable for physiological demands.
