The Idea About the Usage of VAX RMS File

RMS(Record Managemenf Service)负责管理VAX RMS的一般文件系统。RMS文件是VAX/VMS系统最基本的存储方式。尽管VAX/VMS支持多个数据库管理系统,并提供了建库、维护、检索和报表等丰富的数据管理功能,但RMS文件仍以其独特的特点,在某些应用方面表现出优越性。本文将从几个方面对RMS文件进行概括和评价。

RMS, Record Management Services, is in charge of the management of VAX RMS basic file system. RMS file is the most basic of the storage ways in VAX/VMS system. Though VAX/VMS supports several database management systems, such as Rdb、DBMS、Oracle and Trip, and they proviude a lot of data management features on database creation、maitenance、retrieval and report, RMS file yet does better in some specific aspects with its distinguishing features. This article will summarizes and evaluates RMS file in some important aspects, and provides some of my experience on using RMS file.
