This article systematically analyzes Hong Kong economic situation in 2017 from a macroscopic perspective and based on the status of various industries. Moreover, it delves into and judges the risks, opportunities and potentials faced by Hong Kong economy. The result shows overall Hong Kong economy fared well in 2017, with the economic prospects and competitiveness markedly improved. Going forward, opportunities and challenges coexist for Hong Kong economy; innovation of the technological industry becomes a highlight of Hong Kong economic development; to pursue the"Belt and Road"Initiative and build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area shall bring significant opportunities for Hong Kong economic development, but meanwhile, Hong Kong is under the influence of growing uncertainty of the world economy and internal imbalanced development. External impact shall be the biggest concern affecting Hong Kong future economy, the land and housing problems remain the major factors constraining Hong Kong economic development, and structural imbalance of the industries is the deep-seated problem of Hong Kong economy.
