Types and Origins of the Polar Question Constructions in the Minority Languages of Southern China

南方民族語言的極性問有'S-part.''V-not-V''F-VP'和'VP-not'四種結構式。其中'S-part.'分佈最廣,'V-not-V'次之。'F-VP'和'VP-not'相對少見,且分佈不均。本文認爲这种分佈模式跟這些結構式的歷史淵源密切相關。

In the Minority languages of Southern China(Tibeto-Burman,Tai-Kadai,Hmong-Mien,Austroasiatic,Austronesian),there mainly are four kinds of polar question constructions,namely,'S-part.','V-notV','F-VP'and'VP-not'.In these polar question constructions,'S-part.'and'V-not-V'are common crosslinguistically on the one hand,'F-VP'and'VP-not'are relatively rare cross-linguistically on the other hand.It is argued in the paper that the distribution pattern above-mentioned maybe correlate with the origins of these polar question constructions.
