The paper major researches the development and history of the librarianship in Sichuan Province during the late Qing dynasty to the period of the Republic of China. In the writing it uses major events as the starting point,and is combined with the development of library in Sichuan Province. So the paper separately describes each stages of it,which can present five evolution progresses( i. e. from germination to rise until the prosperity,grow,and eventually decline). In each stage it is also interspersed with a significant impact on aspects of librarianship in Sichuan,such as the Reform Movement,Mu Yaoshu,libraries moved into Sichuan,and so on. Moreover,in order to fully reflect its development process,it also illustrates the transformation of the library concept for each stage. Finally,it draws a conclusion about the history an danalyzes the reason of decline of librarianship in Sichuan.
