This study offers an in-depth discussion of the'super-foot'through an examination of each argument that has been proposed to support it.Besides pointing out errors in previous proposals,this study intends to illustrate(i)what the fundamental principles of the theoretical research are,(ii)how to carry out detailed phonological explorations and analyses under such principles,and(iii)how to discover phonological generalizations.This study also intends to show that,as far as phonology is concerned,the theory of language parameters is probably wrong.
