Russian writers such as Pushkin were deeply influenced by Shakespeare, the reason lies not only in the full and vivid characters with the author’s profound insights and reflections on human nature in his works, but also in his deep understanding of humanism and precise thematic presentation of the affinity to people and the national traits. Under Shakespeare’s influences, Pushkin eventually formed his own conception of culture and history and then his ideology of national character, promoting the transformation of Russian literature to modernization and nationalization. The influences above mentioned, are all reflected in one of Pushkin’s masterpieces,Boris Godunov, which is also considered as the first tragedy in Russia.
