American Women Literature under the Influence of Race and Gender

美国女性文学诞生于美国民族文学的建构过程之中,至今已走过了300多年的历程。美国女性文学经历了两次发展高潮,分别是19世纪中叶和20世纪后期。其中一个值得关注的现象是,美国女性文学在这两次高潮期都在一定程度上受到种族与性别因素的影响,在这两种因素交叉影响下的美国女性文学既反映了社会政治变革对于文学发展的重要作用,也积极推进了社会进步,并以其独到的价值观和审美观呈现出所处的时代与社会状况。

American women’s literature was born along with the construction of American national literature, and has had a history of over 300 years. Its development has witnessed two thriving periods, respectively the mid-19th-century and late 20th-century. One of its remarkable features is that both of these phases were affected by racial and gender factors. American women’s literature under these influences reflects the important roles of social and political reforms in the development of its literature, and of literature in the promotion of social progress, while representing its era and society with its unique values and esthetics.
