服装设计是由服装款式、服装色彩和服装材料三个要素所构成的。服装材料就是通常所说的服装面料,是集中体现服装设计师思想和情感的媒介和物化语言,也是服装设计的基础。服装材料的肌理又是设计师作品的灵魂和生命的重要因素。

Fashion design is composed of three elements: the styles, the colors and the materials used. The costume materials, which are usually mentioned as fabric, are the foundation of fashion design and the reflection of the designers' thoughts and emotions. And furthermore, the texture of costume materials is the vital factor to express the soul and life of designed works.
