According to the notification of the National Development and Reform Commission,starting form July 1,2008,the retail electricity price of the nation’s province-level power grids (exclud- ing Tibet Autonomous Region) will rise by 0.25 yuan per kwh averagely.The notification was followed by a series of price-rise plans from the nation’s provinces,cities and autono- mous regions(see Table 1).The price jump is an important measure taken to ensure the coun- try’s economic stability and energy safety. However,it is bad news for the aluminium in- dustry.
