This paper summarizes the purposes and technical requirements of foundation treatment and further proposes, with reference to technical specifications and engineering practices, that foundation treatment is a complicated area requiring constant improvement. Measures to be taken in foundation treatment should be finalized upon due consideration of foundation earth and other factors to ensure reliability, safety, and economy of the structure. The authors propose their suggestions on development of foundation treatment.
