Three Styles of Modern Japanese Historical Fiction Writing —Ogai Mori, Ryunosuke Akutagawa and Yasushi Inoue as Example

历史小说是文学创作的一种重要体裁。近代日本文坛的许多作家都写过历史小说,代表作家有森鸥外、芥川龙之介、井上靖等。这3位作家的历史小说的创作方法大相径庭,森鸥外尊重史实,芥川龙之介脱离史实,井上靖则在尊重史实的同时对主题进行自由发挥。他们的历史小说作品脍炙人口,读者众多。

Historical fiction, as one of the most important literary genres, is the favorite of writers in modern Japan. Among those who have written historical fictions, Ogai Mori, Ryunosuke Akutagawa and Yasushi Inoue are representatives. Their historical fictions are widely read and quite popular with readers in spite of their dramatically different writing styles. Specifically, Ogai Mori respected history, Ryunosuke Akutagawa did not, while Yasushi Inoue presented the historical themes in a freehanded way yet without disregard to historical facts.
