This paper reviews the book Written Corrective Feedback for L2 Development written by John Bitchener and Neomy Storch and published by Multilingual Matters in 2016. By drawing on cognitive and sociocultural theories and empirical studies, the book examines the potential role of written corrective feedback for L2 development. It plays an exemplary role and has great theoretical value for future research that aims to integrate the two paradigms. It highlights the range of learner individual factors and contextual factors that might mediate the effect of written corrective feedback on L2 development, and thus demonstrates the complex and multifaceted nature of written corrective feedback. The book is of great theoretical and practical value for the study of second language acquisition and foreign language teaching.
