中国在21世纪的崛起将是不可避免的,而美国作为当前惟一的超级大国,在21世纪仍将对世界发挥不可替代的影响。中美关系如何发展,不仅会影响两国的历史进程,而且还会影响整个世界的历史进程。中美之间存在着许多利益矛盾,也有不少共同利益。未来中美关系的发展,主要取决于两国政治家和战略家如何认识、判定、把握双方的利益矛盾和共同利益,而这种认识、判定和把握,在相当大程度上受政治文化的影响。中美都是文化大国,两国政治文化既有很大的差异,也有许多共性。这些差异和共性从相反的两个方向影响着中美关系,而中美关系的发展前景就取决于差异和共性的消长趋势。

In the 21st century, it is inevitable for China to emerge from the world stage powerfully, while U.S., the only remaining superpower by now, will still play a unique influence on the world. (More and more people in the world believe that China and the U.S. will become two most important countries to influence the world) So, the development of Sino-U. S. relations will not only influence the historical process of the two countries but the whole world as well. There are a lot of conflicting interests while many common interests exist between China and America. The development of the foreseeing Sino-U.S. relations will mainly depend on how the two countries' politicians and strategists recognize, judge and control the conflicting interests and common interests of both countries, and develop the common interests while containing the conflicting interests. But their work is mostly affected by the political culture. Both China and U.S. are great in culture. China and U.S. have great differences while sharing commonness in their political culture. These difference and commonness affect the Sino-U. S. relations from two adverse directions, and the prospects for the development of Sino-U. S. relations are decided by the ebb and flow tendency of these difference and commonness.
