The paper gives an overview of the United States National Library of Medicine(NLM)and introduces the background of the library’s strategic planning.It conducts a systematic analysis of the strategic planning on the 2017—2027 development,and puts forward some inspiration for the future building of our libraries of medicine in China,namely,setting clearly-defined development goals and creating scientific development plans;conducting open science-oriented building and realizing data-driven healthcare;focusing on the cultivation of librarians and laying a foundation for future development;expanding exchanges and cooperation to create a win-win situation for all the parties involved.
