Imagination About Hometown in Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature

对于故乡的言说在中国传统文学中从没间断过,然而其中"故乡"一词多为实指,寓意也多限于思念故土的情感意义,其意指并没有脱出"乡愁"界域。到了现代文学中,以鲁迅为始的乡土文学创作虽没有刻意斩断传统不绝如缕的故乡回忆,但具有了"乡愁"蕴涵之外的多重旨归,即"故乡"成为思想启蒙与文化批判的试验田、现代文明的参照系、远离政治的逋逃薮和抵抗侵略的"根据地",还成为现代人孤寂心灵的安慰、精神想象的故土。

In Chinese literature,hometown narration as a tradition has never been interrupted.The word'hometown'in this tradition is alwaysgeographic and the theme is mostly nostalgic.When modern literature started,Lu Xun did not make apoint to break away from the convention;instead,he enriched its theme.The nostalgic hometown became a filed of experiment for enlightenment and cultural criticism,a reference system for the modern civilization,a resortfor political escape,a stronghold away from foreign invasion,aplace of console,and the spiritual home for the lonely soul of modern men.
