在最新发现的老舍文章《几个小意见》中,可以看出老舍是个真诚爱国、热心劳军的作家。他深明中国的实际,所以这篇劳军短文并无空言,而是按其所了解的情况,提出具体切当的建议。这些立足实际的建议,对于"文化劳军"都是切实可行的。不过,由于国统区政治体制的问题,按这些建议真正实行却并不容易。所以此文虽然很剀切,但语调却并不明快,可以感受到老舍言外的无奈与悲哀。

The newly recovered Lao She's lost article,'Some Modest Suggestions',bespeaks a patriotic author very ready to serve the military.Lao She understood China's situation too well to write any empty words in this short proposal,but instead gave what he thought was practical and proper.These realistic suggestions were workable in the'Cultural Entertainment to Honor the Military'program.However,they could not be painlessly achieved within the political framework of the GuoMingTang-Controlled Areas.Therefore,while this article is so sincere and earnest,its tone is not at all bright,betraying a helpless and grievous Lao She behind the article.
