Love Letters to Childhood by Zhou Gongdu is an excellent and unique collection of short stories.All the stories are told,both in vision and voice,by a seven/eight-year-old country boy named Xiao Kuan.While Xiao Kuan relates his bits of life,personal experiences,and feelings,the reader cannot help but to laugh,to be amazed,and to be pensive.'Childlike Innocence'acquires a double sense in these stories.On the one hand,the childlike innocence of the character is fully revealed.On the other hand,the stories give away a sophisticated adult trying to come close to his beloved childhood with a pure childlike heart.Thus,this collection of short stories enriched our present writing practice and has an enlightening significance to the creation of contemporary stories.
