There have been different opinions among many scholars about the origin of the word called "Fuyu(夫馀)".Although there are many explanations over this,no one has found its origin in word "*pala(n)" of Tungus. The purpose of this paper is to indicate that the word "Fuyu" is originated from the word *pala(n) of Tungus based on the Old Chinese reconstruction and Tungus language. In this paper, the word Fuyu shows a concrete situation remained in a Korea’s ancient name of a place and its sound change. In addition,it indicates that the Korea’s ancient Chinese character sound includes a hierarchical sound of three periods(Qin Dynasty sound,Han Dynasty sound,Wei-Jin-Northern and Southern Dynasty sound). This paper also verifies the hypothesis that the Old Chinese 歌,微,脂 fligroups are followed by final*-l through the comparison between the Korea’s ancient Chinese character sound and the Chinese corresponding relative word.
