Cohesion and Coherence in Text Translation

It has been recognized that the study of translation should be combined with linguistics. The study of translation has already reached the new level of text translation.Cohesion and coherence are the two aspects that have drawn special attention from linguists.The thesis starts off by briefing on the work done by past researchers in the field and then defines separately discourse,cohesion and coherence.In partⅢ,the author talks a bit about different types of cohesion to give detailed information about cohesion.In parvtⅣ,the author writes about the classification of coherence and approaches to coherence.This thesis aims at pointing out the ideas worth focusing on based on examples and comparison between English and Chinese.And the author of this thesis made her own classification based on coherence approaches,which is expected to be a basis for future research and for improvement and perfection of the theory.
