国际传播视域下的中央文献意象翻译——以十八大以来《求是》英文版中部分文本为例

Translation of Images in China’s Political Documents from the Perspective of International Communication——Based on the Case Study of Texts from Qiushi Journal( English edition) Published since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012

党的十八大以来,以习近平为核心的新一届中央领导集体不仅提出了一系列治国理政的新理念、新思想、新战略,在语言风格上也展现出了很多新特点、新变化、新趋势,表现为更加平实生动、融通古今。受中央领导这种语言风格的影响,一向严肃的中央文献也开始变得鲜活起来,其中各类意象的运用也越来越频繁。如何准确解读并转码这些意象所要传达的信息,从而使国外受众能够感同身受,达到预期的传播效果是对中央文献翻译工作者提出的新挑战。本文针对中央文献中意象的翻译,以十八大以来《求是》英文版中部分典型文本为例,从国际传播受众接受和效果评估的角度出发,结合翻译实例,总结和梳理了中央文献中出现的意象的类型和特点,探究中央文献意象翻译的策略和技巧。

Since the CPC’s 18 th National Congress in 2012,the new central leadership of the Communist Party of China,with Xi Jinping as General Secretary,has not only introduced a series of new concepts,ideas,and strategies for the governance of the country,but also demonstrated some new features,changes and trends in their language style. To be specific,they spoke and wrote in a more plain and vivid manner,and were used to draw on classic works from ancient and modern times. Influenced by this change of style,China’s political documents,which were solemn before, started to be fresh and alive with more and more images being used. How to accurately understand and transmit the messages behind these images to foreign readers is the new challenge that translators of China’s political documents encounter. Based on case study of some typical texts from Qiushi Journal( English edition) published since the CPC’s 18 th National Congress,this essay summarizes the types and features of images appeared in these political documents and explores strategies and skills for translating them with a view to helping foreign readers to better understand these images and enhancing communication effect.
