摘要
本文采用了微观语言规划的视角,考察了外语学科国际化进程中我国外语院校研究者的英语学术写作实践。基于Spolsky提出的语言政策三元框架,我们考察了外语研究者的英语学术写作实践、学术写作中语言选择的信念,以及所在院校针对国际学术发表的语言管理措施。通过对六所外语类院校相关教师发放调查问卷,本文收集了量化与质化的数据。结果表明,以国际期刊学术发表为指标的外语学科国际化在近十年来进步显著,但是存在显著地域差异,发展不均衡的问题比较突出。受访者在国际学术发表中单纯的语言问题已不是最大困难,而学术社会化过程相关的非语言性挑战更加严峻;受访者持有英汉双语发表的信念,然而囿于语言服务与语言支持不足,信念难以转换成语言实践。我们认为,在制定外语学科国际化的语言战略时,必须具体情况具体分析,尤其重视语言实践、语言信念、语言管理三个环节的互嵌互动,缺一不可。
This paper adopts a micro perspective of language planning to examine Chinese scholars’practices of using English as an Additional Language(EAL)for research publication purposes.Spolsky’s tripartite framework of language policy was used as the theoretical framework.We examined the language beliefs and practices of Chinese scholars in English-language related studies,as well as the language management in the institutions with regard to internationally scholar publications.A questionnaire survey consisting of closed multiple choice and open-ended questions was distributed to the EAL scholars in six national foreign-language universities in China,and 210 questionnaires were collected.The findings showed that the international publications by Chinese scholars in English studies have improved tremendously,indicating a certain degree of internationalization of foreign-language studies,but also with regional differences and unequal distribution of resources.The Chinese EAL scholars were facing more of non-discursive challenges than linguistic difficulties.The participants opted for a biliteracy approach to academic publications,but limited by insufficient language support and services in the local context,their language beliefs could not be converted to language practices.We contrast the findings with previous research conducted in the European contexts and discuss the policy implications for international publishing.
