恩平江洲话阳上归阳去

Discussion on the Yangshang and Yangqu Tones in the Enping Jiangzhou Local Dialect

四邑粤语古清平与清去合并,以8个声调为常;而江洲片恩平话古浊上又与浊去合并,以7个声调迥异于四邑粤语其他次方言。浊上分化之后,四邑粤语属于阳上调的字更少,加之阳上、阳去都是降调,且调值相差不大,最终江洲片恩平话阳上归阳去。

Qingping tone and Qingqu tone merged into one, so Guangdong Siyi Dialect has eight tones. However, because of the merger of the Yangshang and Yangqu tones, Enping Jiangzhou local dialect with seven tones is different from other local dialect.After that, the Yangshang tone characters become less and less. Furthermore, Yangshang tone and Yangqu tone of most sub-dialects in Siyi Dialect are in a falling tone, with little difference in tone value. Finally, Enping Jiangzhou local dialect pioneers transfer from Yangshang tone to Yangqu tone.
