Semi-quantitative estimation,the same as qualitative overall thinking,is one of the important ways to obtain an overall estimation and understanding of the nature of problems in scientific research. By adopting semi-quantitative,this article estimates the deformation of free falling water droplets and the cosmic tear effect of wood collided,thus enhancing the knowledge of the application of semi-quantitative estimation to the scientific research and having an overview of the order of magnitude for the deformation of free falling water droplets.
