摘要
MPEG-1/2/4,H.263中的可变长度码表(VLC)是针对一定码率范围的信道优化设计的,因此它的应用是有限制的。新一代的视频压缩算法要求使用一种新的符号编码技术,使得它既可以节约码流又可以编所有的语法元素。ULVC编码技术正是在这种情况下产生的,它可以处理多种编码条件(从低码率到高码率,不同的应用,不同的图像特性等),各类语法元素使用统一的码表(并且这个码表不需要存储),并且,码字构成的特性使UVLC有许多优于VLC的特点。
The variable length code(VLC)tables in MPEG-1/2/4and H.263are fixed and Optimized for a limited range of bit-rates,and they can not handle a variety of applications.A new technique for entropy coding named Uni-versal VLC(i.e.,UVLC)is developed and applied to the next generational Video coding algorithm.This paper analyses the structure and performance of UVLC.At the end,we take the coding method of MB type(one of syntax in H.264)as a example to show the processing of UVLC.
