Latest advances in the researches in and application of nanoparticle silver were reviewed. Different physicochemical preparation methods for nanoparticle silver were described, including chemical reduction, photoreduction, electrochemistry, sol-gel and vacuum steam-plating. The application of nanoparticle silver in antibiotic materials and catalysis was outlined and problems with its preparation as well as development trends in this field pointed out.
