摘要
本文以认知心理学和认知语言学为理论基础,从宏观上对汉英两种语言对意象编码的制约程度和方式做了对比,说明了两种语言在意象编码上的倾向性差异;然后应用认识语言学的相关范畴,分析和描述了具体的翻译转换中涉及的意象编码方式的变化以及带来的意象识读方式的变化,说明了以意象转换规律为基础总结翻译技巧的可行性。最后文章指出,意象识读作为翻译意义的一个重要方面拓展了不可译性的疆界。
Based on cognitive psychology and cognitive linguistics, this study conducts a macro-analysis of different modes of image-encoding between English and Chinese, concentrating on how language constrains the process of image-encoding. It then describes some interlingual transformations in image encoding and image construal in relation to the cognitive categories derived from cognitive linguistics. Finally, it points out that the study of such translation-induced changes in image construal will help to explain the phenomenon of untranslatability.
