The Relation between Huan Family and Xi Jun in East Jin Dynasty——With a Side-Study on Garriso Army and Beifu Army

荆州是东晋王朝的“国之西门” ,荆州军被时人称为“西军”。桓氏世居荆楚 ,通过施恩泽惠 ,笼络“西人” ,“为荆土所附” ,桓氏家族的盛衰兴亡与其掌握的由西人组成的西军紧密相连① 。本文将缀合史料 ,探究东晋时期桓氏家族地位之变迁 ,以及桓氏笼络控制西军、西军与桓氏成败之关系 ,并论及东晋兵制之概况。

Jinzhou is the west gate of Dong Jin Dynasty. The Jinzhou Army was called 'Xi Jun'(west army) by people of that time. The Huan Family had lived in Jin Chu for generations. They won 'Xi Ren'(west people) over through favoring, attached by Jinzhou. The rise and fall of the Huan Family was linked to the 'Xi Jun' which was composed by 'Xi Ren' and poseessed by the Huan Family. This article will investigate the development of the position of the Huan Family at the time of East Jin, and also the problem that they won'Xi Jun' over and then control them, the relation between 'Xi Jun' and the up and down of Huan Family.
