习语是一种语言在使用过程中形成的独特、固定的表达方式。由于地理环境、社会习俗、宗教信仰、神话故事、社会历史背景等的不同导致了英汉习语的文化差异,使其具有独特的文化内涵,这给习语的理解和翻译带来很大的困难。本文结合实例,提出了英汉习语互译五种有效的翻译方法。

An idiom is a group of words in a fixed order having a particular meaning. Because of the differences between geographical conditions, religious believes, myths and history, there are many cultural differences between Chinese and English idioms. In this article, five effective methods translating idioms are given.
