A Taoist classic as it is, The Zhuangzi leaves a lot of space for recording and narrating Confucianism and its advocate Confucius. The book presents Confucius as a perplexing image in that he is both a target of Taoist criticism and an advocator of Taoist doctrines. This reveals the interactive relations between Confucianism and Taoism; in other words, they are interpenetrating while conflicting.
