Discussion on Cultural Difference in University English Translation Teaching

翻译不仅是双语之间的语言转换,更是一种跨文化交际活动。在翻译教学中,教师应积极引导学生了解相关的背景知识和文化内涵。英汉两种语言的文化差异主要表现在环境文化、心态文化、历史文化、思维文化和语言文字文化等方面。通过对两种文化差异的对比,可以提高学生在翻译过程中的文化意识,并尊重和理解不同文化,最终实现不同语言文化之间的相互交流和借鉴。

Translation is not only a language transformation between bilinguals,but a kind of cross-cultural communications activity.In the translation teaching,the teacher should guide the students to understand the related background knowledge and cultural connotation positively.The cultural difference between English and Chinese mainly displays in the aspects of environment culture,mentality culture,historical culture,thought culture and language culture.By comparing the two cultural differences,students’ cultural consciousness in translation process can be improved.And students can respect and understand different cultures,finally realizing mutual exchange and introducing between different language cultures.
