On Wang Gen’s Benevolence Thought

泰州学派创始人王艮的仁政思想很丰富,也很有创造性。他从"万物一体"这一哲学命题出发,主张爱民、护民,行万物一体之仁,建万物一体之政。他主张以省刑而治天下之平,杜绝随意整人、随便杀人的苛政行为。王艮还认为,省刑有一个前提条件,这就是道德教化,所以他强调以明人伦实现三代之治。此外,为了让老百姓有一个安定的生活,他主张减少革命带来的社会振动,走改革改良的道路。

As the founder of Taizhou school, Wang Gen’s benevolence thought is very rich and creative. From the philosophical proposition of " all in one",he proposed to love the people, protect the people,do and construct everything in one kernel. He advocated to save penalty to rule the world peace,and eliminate the cruel political behavior of free prank andcasual murder. Wang Gen also thought that reducing penalty had a prerequisite,that was moral education,so he stressed to knowing how to achieve three generations. In addition, in order to let people have a stable life, he advocated to reduce social vibration brought from revolution,took the reform and improvement road.
