摘要 图形-背景论源于心理学,后由认知语言学家用来研究语言结构的意义,尤其是介词的意义。图形-背景分离原则虽是空间组织的一个基本认知原则,但也可用来研究语言,因而也是语言组织概念内容的一个基本认知原则。本文从图形-背景论的基本思想出发,基于英汉语料,探讨了“图形-背景”这一认知结构在语言空间结构和时间事件结构中的现实化,从而增强了这一理论的认知解释力。 Figure-ground theory derives from psychology and is used by cognitive linguists to analyze the meaning of linguistic structures, that of prepositions in particular. The principle of figure-ground segregation is one of the basic cognitive principles according to which space is organized, but it can be applied to language as well, and it thus becomes a basic cognitive principle by which language organizes its concepts. Starting from the fundamental ideas of figure-ground theory and based on English-Chinese corpora, this paper explores the realization of the cognitive structure 揻igure-ground?in linguistic space and temporal events, trying to strengthen the cognitive explanatory power of this theory.
