Overview of the Compilations of Chinese Dictionaries in the First Half of the 20^(th) Century

在我国传统字书向现代语文辞书转型的过程中,20世纪前半叶的辞书理论探讨和编纂实践发挥着重要的桥梁作用。因特殊历史因素的制约,这一时期的辞书编纂在经历了"五四"前的萌芽和"五四"后的初步发展后,因日本侵华战争的全面爆发和内战的发生进入停滞状态。本文对处于辞书现代化转型时期的汉语语文辞书的编纂背景、代表成果和时代特点进行简要梳理,希望对汉语语文辞书史的研究有所补益。

During the transformation of traditional wordbooks to modern Chinese dictionaries in China,the theoretical researches and practices of compiling dictionaries in the first half of the 20^(th) Century played an important bridging role. Due to constraints of special historical factors,this period's dictionary compilations came to a halt when the Japan 's War of Aggression against China fully broke out and the civil war happened in spite of going through the inceptive stage before the May Fourth Movement and the preliminary development after the Movement. The paper makes a brief review of the compiling background of Chinese dictionaries,typical achievements and epochal characteristics during modernization of dictionaries,aimed at contributing a share to the study on history of Chinese dictionaries.
