Flora, Children and Skull:Exploring the Duanwu Festival Fans in Song Dynasty Paintings

本文討論的是宋代團扇中那些用於端午的畫扇。這項考察有助於我們理解宋代繪畫的視覺語境,觀察宋代繪畫的内容、主題、功能、觀賞方式之間的緊密聯繫。本文從畫面的内容入手,分三個層面對可能的端午畫扇進行了考察。第一個層面是端午節令花草,第二個層面是嬰戲,第三個層面是醫藥。最後,基於對端午主題的認識,本文對《骷髏幻戲圖》做了新的討論,傾向於將之歸爲一件端午畫扇。

This paper discusses the Song dynasty fans that were used during the Dragon Boat Festival. This study could help us understand the visual context for Song paintings, and examine the relationship between the contents, subject matters, functions, and viewing methods of Song paintings. This paper takes as its starting point the content of the paintings, and investigates the possible Dragon Boat Festival fans on three levels. One is the flora during the Dragon Boat Festival. Another level is children. The third level is medicine. Finally, based on current understanding of the theme of Dragon Boat Festival,this paper initiates new discussions on the Kulou huanxi tu, and considers it to be a Dragon Boat Festival painted fan.
