Genre analysis of scientific English textbook prefaces

体裁分析注重语篇的交际目的,是进行深层次语篇分析的有效方法。本文运用Swales的语步模式和Hasan的体裁结构潜势模式对英文科技教科书序言进行体裁分析。本文作者首先建立了由44篇英文科技教科书序言组成的的语料库,然后采用自下而上的研究方法来分析语料的宏观语步结构并说明此类序言的交际目的。文章得出了科技教科书首版序言和再版序言的体裁结构潜势。本文旨在帮助读者更好地阅读英文科技教科书序言,同时对英文科技教科书编写者进行序言写作也会有所裨益。

Genre analysis,which focuses on the research of communicative purposes of the discourse,functions as an effective approach to discourse analysis at the deep level.This paper attempts to apply John M.Swales’move model and Ruqaiya Hasan’s GSP(Genre Structure Potential)model to the genre analysis of scientific English textbook prefaces.A corpus of 44 scientific textbook prefaces is established and the bottomup research method is employed to analyze their macrostructures of moves and steps.At the same time,the prefaces’communicative purposes have been clarified and exemplified.Through the analyses regarding moves and steps,GSP models have been achieved at the generic macrostructure level of both the first edition and the revised edition of the scientific English textbook prefaces.This research may assist readers to have a better understanding of EST(English for Science and Technology)textbook prefaces,and may benefit the potential scientific English textbook compilers when they write their prefaces.
